The Director of Strategy & Analytics will report to the CEO and work on a wide range of initiatives across marketing, product, newsroom, and corporate strategy / corporate development. The CEO is seeking a strategic thinker who can partner with his direct reports to answer key business questions and provide insights based on data. The unusual scope creates an opportunity for a qualified, analytically-minded candidate to make a huge impact on this fast-growing organization. The Director of Strategy & Analytics can come up the management consulting / corporate strategy ranks… or they can be a strategically-minded analytics professional who wants to move close to the business.

Responsibilities Include:

Consult with Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Product Officer and Editor in Chief to understand their short-term and long-term goals and challenges

Continuously develop and improve BI and analytics capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, including hiring and development of talent, adoption of tools & technologies and development of processes

Proactively inform stakeholders of key insights derived from various data sources

Support CEO on corporate strategy initiatives, as well as M&A activities

Growth strategy: Develop ideas for new products, markets or revenue opportunities. Follow a strategic consulting-type framework and process for planning and evaluating growth initiatives

Develop trusted relationships and clear communications with internal stakeholders, executive team members and key contacts in client organizations

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business or a quantitative discipline + MBA or equivalent professional experience.

Ability to deal with ambiguity, have a flexible mind and willingness to pivot as circumstances dictate.

Significant professional experience in some combination of corporate strategy, management consulting, strategy consulting, corporate development, analytics and business intelligence.

Top notch communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and significant experience in applying these skills to strategic business challenges. Strong modeling skills.

Experience in two or more of the following: digital analytics, media analytics, marketing campaign analysis, customer insights, advertising performance, business intelligence, media research, advanced analytics (mix modeling, customer segmentation, etc.), analytics engineering

Ability to conceptualize ideas and communicate to a diverse stakeholder group.

Demonstrated success working both independently and collaboratively.

Desire to work in an early stage, high-growth and mission-driven organization.

Ability to work in our Baltimore office 4 days/week
