WAA Creates Task Force to Address Critical Shortage of Digital Analytics Professionals
New York, NY - October 31, 2011 — The WAA (Web Analytics Association) is pleased to announce the creation of an "Industry Career Development Task Force" for the digital measurement community. The purpose of the task force is to address the critical shortage of qualified digital measurement professionals to fill the jobs in this growing field and encourage individuals and students to consider careers in the industry. Corry Prohens, president of IQ Workforce, will lead the new task force with the goals of introducing digital measurement career paths to talented professionals across the technical, analytical and marketing worlds.
Corry Prohens will serve as the chair of the task force and will work with others in the WAA to reach out to related professional communities as well as undergraduate and masters students across the country.
"The only thing slowing the growth of digital measurement is the shortage of talent," says Mr. Prohens. "We are excited to take the lead on this important effort and will dedicate resources to building audiences for digital measurement career information across the technical, analytical and marketing worlds."
The target audiences for the task force will be professionals (and students) in adjacent communities, such as: business intelligence, customer analytics, marketing analytics, web development, database and data warehouse developers / architects. The task force will develop an email newsletter that will deliver digital measurement career content to subscribers in these professional communities. Subscribers will be obtained via cross-channel marketing efforts including display, social, email and search marketing.
Additionally, the task force will target marketing classes at the undergraduate and masters levels around the country for guest lectures by leading web analytics practitioners.
"The WAA recognizes that a lack of qualified talent is a barrier for many companies to expand and grow their analytics teams, therefore directly impacting their digital marketing success," said Peter Sanborn, WAA president. "The new task force will be an excellent resource for students to prepare for a future career in a growing and prospering field."
WAA is seeking additional members of the community to serve on the task force. Interested parties should contact the WAA Executive Director, Mike Levin, at mlevin@webanalyticsassociation.org.
